Job Title:                     Casual Bar Staff

Reports to:                 Operations Assistant

Location:                     Jersey Opera House

Contract Type:            Zero-Hours (casual)

 

Purpose of the Role:

To provide excellent customer service in the sale and service of drink and refreshments to patrons of the Jersey Opera House. Bar staff will work flexibly to support the running of the theatres’ bar during performances, events, and functions.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages efficiently and responsibly.

·       Operate till and handle cash/card transactions accurately.

·       Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming bar environment always.

·       Monitoring and replenishing stock levels before, during, and after services.

·       Check ID to ensure alcohol is not served to underage customer.

·       Assist with setting up and closing the bar area.

·       Always follow licensing regulations and theatre policies.

·       Work as part of a team to provide excellent customer service to patrons.

·       Communicate effectively with the Duty Manager, Front of House team, and other departments.

Person Specification:

Essential:

·       Excellent customer service and service and communication skills

·       Ability to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required

·       A flexible, reliable, and professional approach to work

·       Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

·       Numeracy and basic cash-handling skills

 

Desirable:

·       Previous experience working in a bar, café, or hospitality setting

·       Knowledge of responsible alcohol service and licensing

·       Interest in theatre or live events

Hours of work:

This is a casual position with no guaranteed hours. Shifts will be offered on the theatres’ performance and event schedule. Evening and weekend availability is essential.
