Book nowBallet d’Jèrri presents an evening of choreographic premieres with live music
Ballet d’Jèrri invites you to an evening of world premieres, framed with music at its pulse and reimagined through the eyes of today’s choreographic voices.
Curated by pianist Anika Vavić and performed live (in duet with distinguished violinist Rémy Ballot), the musical thread underpins seven new works by choreographers already carving their names into the international dance world, including some Jersey-based perspectives: Stanley Young, Hannah Joseph, Daniel Davidson, Noemi Coin, Tabi Dombroski, duo Anna Daly and Donovan Délis-McCarthy.
Each choreographer brings a unique gesture to the dialogue between movement and score, tasked with testing the boundaries of what contemporary ballet can become while honouring its heritage.
Musical Notes
·Anika Vavić (Viennese pianist, born in Belgrade) is known for her sensitive, probing interpretations of the classical canon — unveiling hidden tensions and setting private dialogues with her collaborators.
·Rémy Ballot, a French violinist and conductor based in Vienna, studied under Gérard Poulet and was a pupil of Sergiu Celibidache. He remains active as both soloist and conductor, particularly acclaimed for his interpretations of Bruckner.
Together, their musical partnership underscores the evening — not simply as accompaniment, but as a living, responsive force shaping or counterbalancing each dance’s architecture.
This is more than contemporary dance to classical music. It’s a conversation: a chance to hear emerging choreographers respond to great scores, and to feel the tension between tradition and invention. For audiences, it’s a rare opportunity — one evening, many voices, all in touch with classical roots and the impulse to break new ground.
