Jersey Opera House Limited thanks interim Chair for 13yrs of service

The Board and staff of the Jersey Opera House Ltd would like to thank its outgoing interim Chair, Advocate Cyril Whelan for his commitment and service to the opera house which has spanned 13yrs.

After such a long period of time and with growing pressures in other commitments, such as his work at Baker & Partners, his duties as a Coroner, a Judge at the Employment & Discrimination Tribunal and his role as the Chair of the Gambling Commission, Cyril has decided to dedicate his time and talent to those.

“Cyril was born in the shadow of the opera house, his passion for the building and the arts has helped to secure £12.5m of public money for an extensive refurbishment. A diverse artistic programme is now in place for the autumn season. Advocate Whelan’s capabilities have been called upon to focus on other work. We thank him for his dedicated service to the Opera House; his efforts have contributed to the building celebrating its 125th birthday in grand style and have secured its future. The Jersey Opera House Ltd looks forward to bringing delight to audiences for many years to come.”

Jersey Opera House is continuing to build an exciting programme of performances later in 2025 at https://www.jerseyoperahouse.co.uk/whats-on/, which the Board is focusing on supporting the team to deliver.  As well as our auditorium being open, we are currently launching our many exclusive event spaces for hire and working on exciting opportunities to continue to open our doors as much as we can.

Any enquiries can be sent to admin@jerseyoperahouse.co.uk. The search for a new Chief Executive is about to get underway.
