Music in Action presents ‘A DAY AT THE OSCARS matinée – an entertaining matinée full of classic numbers from your favourite movies and musicals and is suitable for families.

Memorable for film fans and classical music lovers, the concert features some of the evening’s performance including Handel’s Fireworks Music and Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring from the Film Minority Report. The show also looks at musical film with a feast of songs – My favourite things from Mary Poppins, Edelweiss from the Sound of Music, and Joshua Fit da Battle of Jericho with the Gouray Young Voices choir.

Soloists performing in the event include the winners of the Music in Action Jersey auditions with Thomas Wood singing Walking in the Air from The Snowman, and Savanna Vogt singing Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz. Other performers include solo strings from the London Symphony orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra in the Jersey Chamber Orchestra Ensemble.
