A Day at the Spanish Oscars – Matinee
JERSEY CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
TICKETS: Full £12, Children £5
Music in Action presents ‘The Spanish Oscars’ matinée – an entertaining matinée full of classic numbers from your favourite movies and musicals with a touch of Spain.
Memorable for film fans and classical music lovers, the concert features some of the evening’s performance including Rodrigo’s Concerto de Aranjuez, performed by international soloist Carlos Bonell. The show also looks at music beyond Spain with a feast of songs – Supercalifragilistic from Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Circle of Life from the Lion King, performed by the junior choir from St.Michael’s School.
Carlos Bonell is one of the greatest acclaimed guitar soloists in the world and it is a privilege to see him on the stage in Jersey. As well as performing in Edelweiss from The Sound of Music Carlos will also perform with the Gouray Young Voices choir De Colores. Soloists performing in the event include the winners of the Music in Action Jersey auditions with Hendrik Ashbrooke singing Walking in the Air from The Snowman, and Faye Katsande singing A spoonful of Sugar from Mary Poppins. Other performers include strings from the Jersey Chamber Orchestra and a duet by Grace Butler and Freddie Bracken Smith.
